چکیده

The main purpose of this paper is to compute all irreducible spherical functions on G = SL(2,C) of arbitrary type δ ∈ K̂, where K = SU(2). This is accomplished by associating to a spherical function Φ on G a matrix valued function H on the three dimensional hyperbolic space H = G/K. The entries of H are solutions of two coupled systems of ordinary differential equations. By an appropriate twisting involving Hahn polynomials we uncouple one of the systems and express the entries of H in terms of Gauss’ functions 2F1. Just as in the compact instance treated in [GPT] there is a useful role for a special class of generalized hypergeometric functions p+1Fp.

Universal Approximator Property of the Space of Hyperbolic Tangent Functions

In this paper, first the space of hyperbolic tangent functions is introduced and then the universal approximator property of this space is proved. In fact, by using this space, any nonlinear continuous function can be uniformly approximated with any degree of accuracy. Also, as an application, this space of functions is utilized to design feedback control for a nonlinear dynamical system.

Matrix Spherical Functions and Orthogonal Polynomials: an Instructive Example

In the scalar case, it is well known that the zonal spherical functions of any compact Riemannian symmetric space of rank one can be expressed in terms of the Jacobi polynomials. The main purpose of this paper is to revisit the matrix valued spherical functions associated to the complex projective plane to exhibit the interplay among these functions, the matrix hypergeometric functions and the ...

Numerical ‎S‎olution of Two-Dimensional Hyperbolic Equations with Nonlocal Integral Conditions Using Radial Basis Functions‎

This paper proposes a numerical method to the two-dimensional hyperbolic equations with nonlocal integral conditions. The nonlocal integral equation is of major challenge in the frame work of the numerical solutions of PDEs. The method benefits from collocation radial basis function method, the generalized thin plate splines radial basis functions are used. Therefore, it does not require any str...

Spherical Functions of Fundamental K-Types Associated with the n-Dimensional Sphere

In this paper, we describe the irreducible spherical functions of fundamental K-types associated with the pair (G,K) = (SO(n+ 1),SO(n)) in terms of matrix hypergeometric functions. The output of this description is that the irreducible spherical functions of the same K-fundamental type are encoded in new examples of classical sequences of matrix-valued orthogonal polynomials, of size 2 and 3, w...
